Most wellness coaching courses online teach you what a healthy life looks like. Far fewer teach you how to help another person live one. That second part is the job, and it is where a weekend certification leaves you stranded in your first session with a paying client.
Our Health Coach Diploma is an Ofqual regulated Level 5 qualification awarded by Gatehouse Awards. It runs to 740 hours across five modules, takes six to twelve months part time, and asks for no prior degree or experience to begin.
Why the Health and Wellness Industry is Hiring Coaches
A GP has around ten minutes with a patient. That is enough to name a problem and nowhere near enough to walk someone through changing how they eat, move and sleep. Employers are running the same maths from the other side, counting the cost of sick days that better daily habits would have prevented, and building wellbeing into their budgets accordingly.
So the work is there. Clinics, corporate wellbeing departments, NHS services and other health professionals are all bringing coaches in, and growth in the health and wellness industry has made coaching a dependable route of professional development.
What You Study
Five modules, taken in order:
- How the Body Works, 120 hours. Digestion, absorption, the major body systems, and the red flags that tell you to refer someone on.
- Nutrition and Health, 120 hours. Food composition, personalised nutrition, and how diet supports specific health concerns.
- Fitness and Exercise, 100 hours. Movement that helps with pain, stress, weight and hormonal health, filmed by industry professionals.
- Coaching Skills, 300 hours. Questioning techniques, goal setting, case taking, and supervised practice with real clients.
- Business, Marketing and Promotion, 100 hours. Your niche, your pricing, your website, your social media and more than one income stream.
Look at those hours. Coaching skills take up more of this programme than any other module, because that is the part most wellness coaching training skips.
Wellness Coach or Life Coach?
A life coach works across career, relationships and goals. A wellness coach does that too, but from a grounding in physiology and nutrition. Learning how the body works first is what lets you notice an underlying issue, stay inside your remit, and refer to a GP when something warrants it. It is also why our graduates are welcomed into clinics alongside other practitioners rather than kept at arm’s length.
Where the Certification Takes You
Graduates run private practices online and in person, coach inside companies, work in multi-disciplinary clinics, deliver group programmes, speak, write and build digital products. You decide how many clients you see each week and what you charge.
Over 80% of our graduates go on to practise, full or part time. The business module is much of the reason. You finish with a working plan rather than a certificate and good luck.

Filmed lectures, notes, quizzes, recipes, meal plans, client letter templates and recorded coaching cases all sit in the student portal, ready whenever you are. Live webinars and Zoom tutorials run throughout, and your tutor is an email away.
