I really enjoyed expanding my knowledge

Jo Brown – Health Coach

I learnt so much which I found easier to take in because the tutors were excellent. I enjoyed the practical tasks as this helped me to appreciate just how much of an impact we can have on our health.

What date did you graduate?

I finished my course at the end of October 22. Sadly I had to miss the graduation as my grandson was born and I was one of the birthing partners for my daughter.

What did you do before studying at CNM?

I had my own portrait photography business for over 30 years. I then studied plant based nutrition online. During the pandemic I took a job with the NHS working from home as a technical assistant for their online e-learning platform. I reduced my hrs to part time when I was studying with CNM, I’ve continued to do this on a part time basis.

What made you want to become a Health Coach?

I’ve just turned 60 and I feel (and I’m always being told that I look) much younger. I know it’s because of the way I eat. But I noticed that through any stressful times, or when I didn’t exercise this feeling would quickly evaporate. I realised there is so much more to ageing healthy than eating the correct food. So I started to do some research…

What attracted you to CNM’s Health Coach course?

I came across CNM and was very much attracted to their health coach course as it was based on holistic health.

What did you enjoy most about the course? I knew quite a bit about nutrition but very little about how the body works. I really enjoyed expanding my knowledge, I learnt so much which I found easier to take in because the tutors were excellent. I enjoyed the practical tasks as this helped me to appreciate just how much of an impact we can have on our health.

How has studying the Health Coach diploma changed your life?

I’m putting everything into practice and I can feel and see how this is having an impact on me as a 60 year old. I don’t feel (or hopefully look) like most people would expect a person of my age to be. As I kept hearing in the course, there’s ageing and there’s premature ageing, with correct knowledge you can control the latter. We have the choice. I’ve told all of my family about the things I’ve learnt (and I still am as there is so much to tell!)

What are you doing now that you are qualified?

I specialise in healthy ageing working with clients 1 to 1 online, and I hold wellness group programmes locally.

What do you love about being a Health Coach?

I love holding all of that knowledge within me and I’ll never let it go or let myself forget why I’m living the way I do. I’m very grateful and consider myself to be very lucky to know what I need to in order to live a healthy life, when very sadly the majority of people don’t know that they have choices. It’s my job to share this.
