What made you want to become a Health Coach?

I spend most of my free time learning, reading, and researching all about natural health and I have a passion to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained with others. Society needs support in this area now more than ever. Many people have been greatly affected by the recent Pandemic mentally, emotionally, and physically. The traditional healthcare system cannot keep up and provide the extra care needed to treat the root causes of poor health. Investigating the root causes and supporting clients to make lifestyle changes will help reduce the demand on the healthcare system and support long-term health. It’s also become apparent that other health professionals really need the support of health coaches to help their clients/ patients implement the advice they’ve been given. Just like after a surgeon does their job there’s a doctor to help deliver the after care, other types of health professionals could also benefit this extra support as they don’t have the time and resources to do it all!

What attracted you to CNM’s Health Coach course?

Of course I wanted to learn from the best! CNM has a renowned reputation for its excellence. It’s the UK’s number 1 training provider for Natural therapies. It also gave me the option to study online whilst I was still working full-time. If it wasn’t for this option I’m not sure I would be here today! (Or at least it would have delayed my studies for a while). I was also drawn to the fact that CNM provide you with clinical practice so that once qualified we can smoothly and confidently continue working with clients.

What did you enjoy most about the course?

We had to see 6 clients throughout our studies and this real life application was the best part for me! I definitely learnt a lot “on the job” and was able to get feedback from clients on how they found my coaching. Asking for constructive criticism is such a great learning opportunity! I had one individual tell me that he loved the session and found it so helpful, but he wasn’t expecting to get into so much depth and that he would have appreciated a heads up on how deep we go. Ever since that feedback I explain exactly what I’ll be going through with my clients and tell them that if there’s anything that they don’t feel comfortable sharing at this point that’s okay. Building a trusting rapport is so important as clients will feel that they are safe to share more about them which means they’ll be able to get more out of working with us.

How has studying the Health Coach diploma changed your life?

It’s given me the confidence and credentials to be able to work with people to help them improve their health and quality of life.

What are you doing now that you are qualified?

I’ve set up a company called Wellbeing From Source. I work 1-1 with women that are struggling with energy levels, stress and hormonal imbalances. I work in collaboration with a hormone testing company to find the root causes of any hormonal imbalances and work with their nutritionists to provide our clients with a tailored health coaching plan.

I’m also working in collaboration with a personal trainer which I think is super exciting that personal trainers are starting to notice the extra value that health coaches provide to ensure their clients achieve the best results. For example, if an individual is struggling with their weight and they’re over exercising and undereating and they find that nothings working, a health coach could identify and explain to them that firstly over exercising and undereating can actually prevent weight loss (especially in perimenopause and menopause years) as this may be causing the blood sugar levels and cortisol levels to wreak havoc on the body, and secondly that it may be worth taking a look at their hormones because if they are out of whack, rebalancing them as well as their blood sugar levels could be the missing piece to their puzzle! Happy client, happy PT and a fulfilled health coach 😊

What do you love about being a Health Coach?

I love educating, providing an opportunity to listen to people that need to be heard (and not dismissed!), improving lives by helping clients make small simple life changing changes, helping clients find the missing pieces of their health puzzle to find their restored sense of self that they’ve been longing for and to continue to learn and grow as an individual through experience.
