What made you want to become a Health Coach?

Growing up, I was taught the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle, but my personal health journey hasn’t always been a smooth one. Ten years ago, during a difficult period after losing my dad, I discovered yoga and its holistic benefits, which inspired me to pursue yoga teacher training. While I continued my work in the corporate world, I knew deep down that my true passion was in health and wellness, and in helping others achieve their goals and live a healthier, more balanced life. At the end of 2021, when my corporate role was made redundant, I decided to follow my passion and enrolled in the Level 4 Health Coach Diploma through the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM), which I completed in 2022.

What attracted you to CNM’s Health Coach course?

I kept seeing the advert in my monthly yoga magazine and took it as a sign from the universe! When I realised that my corporate role was at risk of redundancy, I decided that it was time for me to consider it as an opportunity for a change in career. When I saw the CNM advert again, I registered for one of the online open day sessions. I was really inspired by the speakers, particularly Dr Joyce Reed, as I could relate so much of what I had been through, particularly from working in a high-powered corporate environment, to what Dr Reed shared on the day. And the rest as the saying goes, is history – I registered for the course on the same day!

What did you enjoy most about the course?

As I studied online, the flexibility it provided really worked for me at the time. I found all the modules just so interesting, it’s hard to pick my favourite! I enjoyed how my knowledge base grew throughout the course, and how I was able to apply learnings not only in my day-to-day life; I was able to share with friends and family too! The content of the course is of a high calibre providing an excellent foundation to start practicing as a Health Coach. It definitely makes, and continues to make for some interesting conversations around the dinner table, particularly a friend of mine who is an Doctor!

How has studying the Health Coach diploma changed your life?

It validated for me that I made the right choice in terms of a career change at an important crossroads in my life. What I have taken from the course in terms of knowledge has provided me with so much useful information about how I can support myself and enable those around me, to make changes for a healthier and longer life. It has also opened up opportunities within the health and wellbeing space as a whole and has enabled me to ‘link in’ with other like-minded individuals whose passion it is to help others.

What are you doing now that you are qualified?

I have started my own business, Health & Balance in the Isle of Man, combining my love of teaching yoga together with my health coaching qualification. I work on a 1:1 basis or in a group setting, both in person and remotely.

What do you love about being a Health Coach?

I love that I can provide my offering and be of service to others so that they too can enjoy a lifetime of better health! I am passionate about guiding and supporting people, without judgement, as they embark on their own journey, reducing health risks and finding greater balance in their lives. I am committed to helping others find the path that works best for them and empowering them to take control of their wellbeing.
