Susan Hollywood – Health Coach
It was everything I was looking for, to be able to understand how the body works, to help others to be in control of their own health, become certified and be helped in setting up in business.
Which CNM college did you study at? (London / Online)
What date did you graduate?
3rd March 2023
What did you do before studying at CNM?
I was working for a brain injury association as Learning Co-ordinator, planning, preparing teaching and delivering life skills, IT and cognitive curriculums for brain injury survivors.
What made you want to become a Health Coach?
‘Covid -19 struck and my asthma spiralled out of control despite using daily inhalers. I soon contracted a serious viral infection. My breathing was corrected in ways that were naturally right for me with the help of private, weekly, online sessions and daily email support by a breathing specialist. I was so impressed with the results that I decided this was how I wanted to help others. Training was offered but I wanted the weight of an official qualification behind me at first.
What attracted you to CNM’s Health Coach course?
It was everything I was looking for, to be able to understand how the body works, to help others to be in control of their own health, become certified and be helped in setting up in business. From a young age, I had always wanted to work for myself but would often feel ashamed about it. I figured out that by working for myself, I am actually helping myself and others so it really is a win-win situation.
What did you enjoy most about the course?
During my studies I was recuperating from work-related stress. I’m equally fond of How the Body Works and the Nutrition Module.
How has studying the Health Coach diploma changed your life?
The CNM How the Body Works module gave me the confidence to liaise with doctors on their rounds during my months in hospital. On one occasion, I was being given an intravenous antibiotic daily for a while and featured it was simply becoming routine. It was only when I asked about its use that they realised it was actually no longer needed. The Fitness, Nutrition and How the Body Works Modules helped to restore my life.
What are you doing now that you are qualified?
I have just finished setting up my blog for women going through the menopause transition.
What do you love about being a Health Coach?
One of the things I love about consultations is the joy of clients unexpectedly coming across “a-ha” realisations which had been waiting all along to be unearthed . Experiencing the power of open questions is amazing.
