I Adore Being a Compassionate Messenger

Simona Bitmate – Health Coach

I know, first hand, the harsh impact of Motherhood during the pandemic had on women – both physically and mentally. It was a horrific time in history to be thrown into motherhood. I knew there was a real need for hopeful and compassionate Maternal health support.

Which CNM college did you study at? (London / Online)

I studied online – as I live in West Yorkshire.

What date did you graduate?

I graduated in October 2023.

What did you do before studying at CNM?

I was a professional Actor for 11 years – then I became a first time mum in Covid and my world changed completely…

What made you want to become a Health Coach?

After the birth of my son my health began to crumble. Autoimmunity, Hypothyroid, pelvic organ prolapse, anxiety, depression, PTSD, nutritional deficiencies and a long list of gut issues caused by stress, sleep deprivation, and IV antibiotics.

At 13 months postpartum I began to go in search of natural ways to support my body and after a lot of hard work, within 9 months my blood work was optimal and I was feeling the best I have EVER felt.

When I managed to turn my health around I knew I NEEDED to retrain in some area of Mother’s health so I could spread the hopeful message to other women in a similar position. I’ve heard it said before that people describe it as a ‘Calling’ – but now I really understand what that means.

I know, first hand, the harsh impact of Motherhood during the pandemic had on women – both physically and mentally. It was a horrific time in history to be thrown into motherhood – unsupported, unseen and removed from our support networks. Thousands of women had given birth alone and did not have access to the BASIC care they needed postpartum.

I knew there was a real need for hopeful and compassionate Maternal health support..

What attracted you to CNM’s Health Coach course?

I think ultimately it was the long standing reputation of the school and the stamp approval from the NHS – I really wanted to be taken seriously!
The accessibility and flexibility was a deal breaker too.

What did you enjoy most about the course?

I loved the first module – How The Body Works. It was filled with exceptional in depth content. It was certainly not made easy in any way (I did single Science GCSE 2 decades ago!) – but I really appreciated this thorough and in depth introduction into each system of the body.

Learning about the Nervous System was my favourite and most challenging part!

How has studying the Health Coach diploma changed your life?

It’s given me the groundwork and credentials I needed to share my story and support other women in a similar situation.
I now get to translate all the grief and hurt I experienced into supporting other women – and that feels really euphoric.

What are you doing now that you are qualified?

I’m a freelance Mother’s Health Coach. I work with women, at every stage in Motherhood, to support them with practical health and nutrition  coaching that works in harmony with their uniquely demanding family life. My business ‘Mother Well’ is in its infancy but already I’ve been blown away by the transformative results with my clients.

What do you love about being a Health Coach?

Health is EVERYTHING, isn’t it?! It impacts our whole experience of life – and in my work – Motherhood.

There is never anything I’ve been so sure about in my life. I almost lost my life entirely to poor health and now I’m living my best health yet.

I just adore being a compassionate messenger for hope and healing.
